1.9 XL Tire Size Comparison

I thought I would show a 1.9 XL size mounted tire comparison, because the specs given are not very accurate. Also threw in a couple 2.2s just for fun. Something like this would have helped me when buying. I don't have every XL 1.9 but hope this helps.

From Left to Right:

*Axial 1.9 Nitto Trail Grappler:
4.7 x 1.9 / 119.4mm x 48.2mm "this tire has little man syndrome"

*Proline 1.9 Super Swamper SX XL:
4.75 x 1.75 / 121mm x 44mm "seems accurate"

*Duratrax 1.9 Deep Woods:
4.6 x 1.6 / 117mm x 42mm "this tire is way bigger"

*JConcepts 1.9 Rupture:
4.92 x ? / 125mm x ? "width seems about 1.75"

*Proline 1.9 Super Swamper Bogger:
5.40 x 1.91 / 137mm x 49mm "seems accurate"

*Proline 2.2 Super Swamper SX:
5.40 x 2.05 / 137mm x 52mm "seems accurate"

*Proline 2.2 Chisel:

Nice! Thanks for sharing. It would be nice if we had a thread like this where everybody compared their mounted tires. I'll try to do the same and add a photo of my own if you don't mind. The manufacturer specs are definitely inaccurate.

Following. Would like to see where the KLR X4 sits in the mix as I have been running tall and skinny on the last two builds.

As an ubernewbie, this is both very cool and very helpful. Has anyone converted these tires to scale equivalent, i.e. 35s, 38s, 44s, etc? Or, is this common knowledge?
(note: did I mention I'm new to this stuff?)

Scale is all relative to the size of the RC and 1:1 trucks.

The SCX10III is 1:9 scale to a real JLU so 4.75 inch tires scale to 42.75 inch tires on a 1:1 (4.75 * 9 = 42.75).

Take that same chassis and replace the Jeep body with a Proline Ford Raptor (about 10.5 scale) and those same 4.75 inch tires now scale to 50 inches.

Re: 1.9 XL Tire Size Comparison

Copy that. So, swapping 1.55s onto a RedCat Gen 8 Scout doesn't necessarily net 15" scale wheels... Gotta first establish that the body is actually a true 1:10 scale body. Then run the same math on the tires...

So tell us which ones you like the best. I have the super swampers for 1.9 and after a lot of siping they work pretty well, I have Proline hammers which looks like your last one on the right and they are incredible. I have had some BFG krawler ta (1.9) and they were not that good even after sipping the hell out of them.

In my neck of the "rocks", the Krawlers are incredible with no siping. Even better than the Hyrax and Swamper. It all depends on where you go though. They're probably not as great if you're in muddy terrain.

I am on rocks. I have siped my BFGs and they still don't do well. I will play with them some. I will try changing different foams.

My Swampers did not do that well out of the bag either but with siping they do a great job.

My Hammers do excellent, no siping.

This is what the problem with recomending tires is....

One set of tires works really well in one area, but is absolutely horrible in others.

I will try new foams. I went from real soft foams to maybe to hard ones. My issues with the BFG maybe my own doing.

Firm Foams will def hurt performance, just like running a 1:1 off road with street pressures.

Re: 1.9 XL Tire Size Comparison

Could be the type of rocks too. If you check out my Element or Capra vids, they're all Pro-line BFG Krawlers G8 with dual stage foams. Sometime in the morning the rocks are still a bit damp, and it still does fairly well. The Hyrax on the other hand seem to have issues when those rocks are damp and sandy, since it seems to have less contact patch.

I am palying with foams right now. I am using my super swampers.

It is all about compromise. Using the tow stage foam gives you more stability and doesn't collapse much so you don't loose clearance.

On the Super Swampers I have decided to run a little stiffer foam and use a little throttle when traction is an issue, that seems to work and I have the stability side hilling and not loosing clearance. Traction is still good but I have a few placed a slick rocks on my test track to cause traction issues. At this point I am getting really picky, taking advantage of the down time.

I should get to the BFGs with some softer foam soon.

AND

Of course the ProLine Hammers are still the best of these three by FAR.

Hammers are a 2.2" tire? That's pretty big for most scale truck applications.

They aren't that much bigger than 1.9 Super Swampers. The 2.2 and 1. 9 are only rims sizes can you get different size tires.

But if you truly want scale about any Tire you find on and off road RC is out of scale.

Re: 1.9 XL Tire Size Comparison

I guess I got the right amount of foam and siping, these BFG krawlers are now doing great!!

Now I have a good performing skinny Tire.

Re: 1.9 XL Tire Size Comparison

I bought a pair of Proline BFGs 1.9 and they are small. I'm not sure they are class 1 small, but they are shorter and narrower then the stock tires on my Wraith, Element and TRX4. The photo helps, but the lack of consistency in size has me hesitant to go for another tire and end up with another set of wimpy looking tires.

Which BFG's did you buy? They have several.

They currently have K02, KM3, and Krawler.

K02 - 4.35"
KM3 Class 1 - 4.19"
KM3 - 4.75"
Krawler - 4.75"
