Default trx4 sport Hyrax foam setup

I recently purchased a Trx4 sport build kit. Loved assembling it. At any rate I purchased some Hyrax tires (which came with foam) as well as the proline dual stage foams. Just curious as to opinions on which to use. I use the rig strictly for slow rock crawling; also the truck is stock with no added weight and I am not using the roof rack. Trying to keep the cg low. One added note, I was impressed how well the stock tires worked which lead me to the above question since the traxxas foam seems much softer the the stock proline foams and even softer yet than the the dual stage. Thank you.

Welcome to the site!

The TRX-4 is a great truck and it's a ton of fun to build - one of the best.

Traxxas tires are great for stock tires, but the Hyrax are better. And I suggest you use the Proline dual stage foams. They are still soft on the outside to allow the tire to conform to the terrain, but the dense, inner foam gives your sidewall some integrity and the tire won't roll over on the edge when side hilling.

Post up a build thread with your truck and share some photos!

Thanks for the reply, although I'm looking for real world experience with my combination.

I'm confused. I built a TRX-4 Sport kit. I ran it with stock foams and tires. I also ran it with Hyrax tires filled with Proline two stage foams.

I'll take Hyrax with dual stage foams all day.

Here's my evidence.

Your original reply didn't state the experience displayed in the latest reply, (which is what I was actually seeking) thanks.

The stock canyon trails are great tires the foams just tend to breakdown fast. crawler innovation make foams that fit the canyons nicely and will be a big upgrade in performance. my trx was a little on the heavy side, needed stiffer foams because of the weight. now that she been on a diet I went to a medium foam in front and the stiffer ones out back.

Hyrax at 4.70 is a massive tyre even bigger than the stock canyons, I've gone down a few mm to pitbull fock beasts at 4.45 with dual stage foams. More scale for sure.

I've used the 1.9 Hyrax tires with the PL 2 stage foams on my TRX4 Defender and my Sport. Which is my class 2 comp truck.

They perform awesomely on both trucks!

Nice and clean, when I first put them on.

Sport at a competition.
