Not my beloved Rovers!

I’ve been running 2.2 white dot Rovers since 2010 or so. Super happy with the tire.

I ended up sanding the sidewalls which made them even better, but I finally put a gash in one today.

If white dot rovers were still available, I’d simply replace it no questions asked. They’re unavailable everywhere though, which leaves me to searching for a replacement.

I like the smooth sidewalls, but I also like the bigger tread blocks. I’m in the Midwest and dirt is common amongst the rocks.

Are there any recommendations for a comp tire similar to the Rovers? I’m torn between getting another set of similar tires and sanding them, or rolling the dice on some Voodoo Pins to see how they do on my terrain.

I'd personally stay with white dot rovers. Rcpcrawlers.com has rovers.
Just my 2 cents.

How bad is the rip? I've ripped many of tires and just glued them back together no problem.

JConceps Ruptures look very similar. They offer them in both 1.9 and 2.2

I saw brand new rovers hanging on the wall at my LHS two weeks ago.

Those are sick. I'd love to try them, but I also don't want to buy/build new wheels right now. I'll likely replace what will fit with my current setup, but those will always be in the back of my mind, haha.

Those are appealing for sure. I may opt for these if I replace the whole set.

Score. I'll likely just pick up a pair and replace the one that's torn.

It's pretty bad. Completely removed a chunk of rubber about the size of a nickel. I noticed it because I could see my foam peeking through, haha.

I will put in a second shout for the rovers. They really are a nice tire. For normal rocks and the odd dirt patch they do really well. On those really smoothed out and rounded river stones, they're a bit meh but that really doesn't detract much. Definitely NOT for wooden crawler courses as the sidewalls are rather thin so the odd sharp stick or splintered bit of wood will tear right through them. I know from experience:roll:

You lucky dog!

If you have the torn piece I'd glue it back together with either loctite 406 or AKA tire glue.
Also pick up a set from rcpcrawlers.com
.

I was playing in some stick laden rocks for sure. I likely snagged one unknowingly. The sanded sidewalls surely didn't help things.

The torn piece is long gone. I have no idea where it peeled off and didn't want to scour the rock garden to find it. It was a pretty trashy area (sticks/vegetation/etc).

I went ahead and ordered a pair of Rovers from rcp. Thanks guys!
