Default Tire/Foam Help

First off, I did read a similar thread related to a similar issue with 2.2 and dual-stage, and this issue is indeed different.

I just bought a set of 1.9 Proline Hyrax tires and dual-stage foams for my Axial SCX10.3. Unfortunately, the foams do not fit. The OD on the tires is approximately 4.15," and the OD on the 1.9 dual-stage foams is 4.85, which is .60 larger in diameter than the stock foams that come with the Hyrax tires. Although I managed to get them on, the tires are clearly overstuffed with the hard foam extending above the sidewall into the tread area. The foam package states, "for Proline 1.9 XL tires," but I can not find any other dual-stage 1.9 foams other than the XL. What am I missing? Does a Proline 1.9 dual-stage foam exist that is not for XL tires? I can not find one.
I would appreciate any guidance.

I use CI foams, thats what I know...

https://crawlerinnovations.com/lil-nova/1-9-4-0/

https://crawlerinnovations.com/lil-nova/1-9-4-25-1/

usually go a bit smaller depending on foams and tire, I don't know of any 4.19 specifically

Proline does not make dual stage foams for 4.19 tires, only the XL versions (4.75)

The CI foams above will work great.

Those aren't dual stage though. Are they?

No, they're single stage foams with a star cut pattern in them.

To OP, as mentioned, Proline only makes foams for their bigger 4.75 tires not their 4.19 tires.

The CI foams are a good option, I would look at the 4.25 comp cut inner foams. I've found the 4.0 foams to be a tad too soft and the 4.25 standard cut inner to be a tad too firm.

Same issue for me...

Pitbull rock beast 4.45 OD and prolines 4.75 ad they feel really.. reallly stiff..

Maybe keep the foam in case you get a bigger tire down the line? or... you can always sell :(

You can't use Proline foams in 4.45" tires and expect good results. The Proline foams are designed for 4.7" tall tires.

Yeah, i had no idea the OD matters when selecting a foam... i just read PL 2 stage foams are good! so i clicked and bought.

I imagine they'd work great for what they were designed for... My mistake :(

That's a little silly, they do work great for what they were designed for - their full size / XL 1.9 tires.

I imagine if they make foams for 4.2" tires they would refer to them as class 1 or something similar based on their XL nomenclature.

Edit - I just realized that you might not be speaking sarcastically - rather literally saying that the foams would be good for what they were meant for - that's on me for misreading, my apologies.

It's all good.

My friend actually has a set of Proline TSL 1.9 swampers with stock foam so i sold my proline dual stage foams to him (4.75 OD). It's working well for him.

Good to hear! I have yet to try aftermarket foams, mostly because with the exchange rate, lack of local availability for C.I. foams, shipping, etc. - that they would cost somewhere in the neighbourhood of $40-$50 for a set and since I am not involved in any competitions they don't seem necessary.

I also remember seeing the proline ones at my LHS (can't remember the price) but I am satisfied with the stock foams in my current setups, and any future tires I buy will likely be 4.2" - 4.5".
