Maybe I'm being dumb but I don't quite understand the bolt placement other than being cosmetic as far as a scale look, they are nowhere near the tire bead if it was intended to be a 'beadlock' wheel in appearance. i guess I've just never seen a 1:1 version with the bolts on the face of the wheel. Does look good though, I like the green.

MOst of my 1/10 ‘beadlock’ wheels don’t even have a ring on them. Those that do have a ring only do so to serve as an aesthetic. I haven’t built these yet, but I believe those stranger located bolts are actually functional.

See a trend here...

Do you mean the bolts around the outside? If that's what you mean, google 3-piece wheels. Used mostly on road cars (and sometimes race cars), it gives the same kind of flexibility here where you can get different components to customize the way the wheels fits the car (different offsets and widths).

They were super popular in the in the 80's and 90's, a little less so now.

If you meant something else, sorry

Being used to Locked Up and CNC Custom wheels, these are a real PITA to build. Maybe the "Pro" means that you need to be proficient at building wheels to put them together. Aside from the difficulty, I'm really stoked on the appearance and overall quality of these. My first Boom Racing purchase and I'm very pleased.

*edit* I'll be adding center caps and scale hardware for the SSD brake hubs.

*edit2* These also clear Axial Portals at max backspacing.

What did you use to hold things together while tightening? I had enough issues with that on RC4wd wheels that I’m thinking about getting a mini clamp like below to hold things together while doing the assembly once I get tires for it.

My fingers
I put 3 screws in equidistant from each other, once the first one started threading, they went together reasonably easily. The first one is a difficult one, though. You have to line up 4 holes, squeeze the whole assembly together, then take your third hand and start tightening.

nah I got that - was just questioning the 'scaleness' of a beadlock wheel that doesn't have an outer ring but Smog answered my question, it appears to be a 'function over form' thing. I like the look of the ring on the lip, but these wheels will definitely find their way into my fleet at some point.

And THAT’s why I’m looking at some sort of clamp!

It’s more of a bead lock that looks like a conventional wheel, so definitely function over form

Nothing can be worse that Proline 1.9 Boggers on chinesium true bead locks with 24 screws per ring. Those will teach you new cuss words.

Default Boom Racing ProBuild Customizable Beadlock Wheels

Can’t say I have tried the pro builds, but I am in love with the kraits. Well at least the 1.55 versions.

Those screws holding it together, looks like plastic Phillips heads. Are they? And are they just used for temporarily holding them together during shipping?

Yes they are there just for holding things together in the package.

All the ones I have put together have gone together very smoothly.
I use a older Udder Butter jar to hold the wheel in place to apply pressure

How long does it take to get these?! I’m still waiting on my single.

Never mind, it came in today! Once I get done fighting with my insurance company about a treatment for MRSA that I’m on, I’ll test fit it to the Jimny, hopefully Photobucket will have it’s server issue fixed by then too!

Can’t get into my Photobucket to post the pics (keep getting an “internal server error” message), but they just clear the Tamiya portals, even though they’re set up for about as much positive offset possible short of ordering the pin drive centers in place if the hex drive like I have. They’ll even with within the Jimny body’s trimmed fender flares that way!

Nice!

Will be interested in the pics!

I still haven't assembled mine - haven't decided which tires to wrap them in...

RC4WD Baja Pro X 4.7" or RC4WD Thornbirds?

LOLz - too many wheels, too many tires.

Not a bad problem to have!
