I’m happy with it and the flipped face like I had to do with the 3.85” Krawlers on that little Jimny will look bonkers!

Ok, here’s what I’ve been able to put up for now.
The wheel

How it’s set up on the left front corner of the truck.

And the steering knuckle/portal clearance.

Still having issues getting the rear pics on my Photobucket, but this will at least give an idea when set for the absolute maximum positive offset with a hex on these portal units! Once things are working right, I’ll post more in my thread for this truck in the Non-Crawler section.

I'm curious about what kind of experience other people have had ordering things from Boom Racing. I ordered 6 wheels from them about two weeks ago and, while I got a notice from my bank that they had immediately charged my card, I never received any notification from Boom they they had gotten my order. I waited 8 or 9 hours to see if an email would show up and when it didn't I checked Boom's site. They did have my order and I was surprised to see it said the order was complete since the site said custom wheel configurations could take up to 7 days. Since I paid for 2 day shipping I figured I'd see the wheels in 3 or 4 days. I waited a week and hadn't gotten even a shipping notice so I email Boom. The reply I gotten back was from someone that clearly was not an English speaker and didn't answer any of the questions I asked. It basically just said I need to "await" my order.

It's now been another week and I still haven't heard anything. I don't have an issue with the amount of time the order is taking but I'm really surprised at the lack of communication. Hopefully I'll at least receive a tracking number so I can be around when the package shows up.

I've always ordered Boom Racing stuff from either RCMart or RC Crawler Country, in all cases they came surprisingly quickly.

Hopefully this will all sort itself out soon!

I ordered direct from Boom Racing/Asiatees and had pretty much the same experience. Paid for express shipping, didn't see them in the first week, emailed them, was told to wait, looked at the website again and then noticed the 7-day wait for custom orders. Had them several days later. The shipping notice was in my inbox the same day they were delivered.

Thanks for the replies.

I'd never ordered anything direct from Boom either but since their site says they're located in Arizona I assumed everything would be coming from there. I'm guessing that's not the case. I hadn't heard anything as of tonight so I checked their site to see if there had been any change to my order status but my order is completely gone from my order history so I don't know what is going on.

Damn, MORE styles - the SS5 faceplate, 5lug - shown in just a couple of the colors available, and one set built up on extra-wides and the other on standards...

5lug 5-spoke, 6lug with 12 holes, a crazy 5lug "web" style...

Wavy drilled discs, too!

...and an upcoming vintage face from their Instagram at the bottom!

Wow they are really making it hard for me to not spend big money on wheels, but seems like the value is there.

Got my remaining 3 Boom Racing wheels today, ordered them nearly a month ago and I was about to email them to see if they had an ETA.

Can’t wait to mount up the tires and put them on the Jimny after work, though!

If I get the chance to get a set for my SCX10 with a XJ body, I’m digging these, they almost look like ‘96-‘98 ZJ Limited wheels too!

For example...

They’re mounted up and just ridiculous looking for such big rolling stock on such a little rig

That really came out nicely!

Nice bit of recognition, too...

Thanks, and it was a bit of a shock to see it since I had no idea they were going to do that! I even had somebody that may be a Proline engineer catch the GF-01Tr portals on it too

Does anyone know if the 6 lug variants of these have the same bolt circle as SLW hubs? That would be awesome if they do.

Yes, they are SLW compatible.

Awesome, thanks elRayRay. Having that compatibility really makes these even more appealing. Gonna have to get a custom set.

Got my bronze SS5's today and mounted them right away. I can't believe how high the quality of these wheels is. They went together suprisingly easy as well. The key is the threaded ring. It's so much easier than farting around with the tiny nuts. The included center caps were nice, but the Mercedes ones threaded onto the bit of axle sticking out, so I'll use those for a while. Sorry for low quality phone pics, I'll try to get something better next time we have some sun (it snowed today in Pittsburgh)

They look even better on that rig than in the pics from the Boom Racing website - and of course you've got a really sweet TRX-4 to install them on...
