Default 2.2 tires

I am building another 2.2 comp RC for my son.

It will be based on a TRX4.

On my other one I run old school Proline Hammers (advertised at 4.9") and like them very much.

On my 1.9s I have Hyrax and like them. On my MOA I have 2.2 Hyrax and like them but they are too big for a scaler.

What is a good comp 2.2 (mostly dry rock and sand/dirt) about 5"-5.25"?

With the portals it seems that is a good tire for me.

Pretty much everything I find is bigger than I want.

Unfortunately there are not many options in that size. I would try RC4WD Z-T0042, otherwise Pitbull 2.2 XORs exist but are extremely wide.

I have the PB Braven Berserker's Alien compound in the 1.9 4.35" on my TRX 4 sport, and they are sticky as hell. Great on rock and dirt. They grab everything.

I bought a set of the Pitbull XOR and cut about 1/4 inch out of the center. They do hook up very well but tough getting the right size foams. I ran them on a Traxas shafty. With the portals I couldn't get the wheel speed I like even with a 21 turn HH. I was running a low gear tranny also. The tires that came stock on my Nightcrawler do well also for that size, not real scale though. I also like Pitbull Rockbeast but 2.2 are big. 1.9 are about right size and maybe you could stretch them on to th 2.2 wheels.
