Question need 1.55 wheels that doesnt stick out too much

im looking for some 1.55 wheels for my SSD Trail King with a 4 door RC4Wd Hilux body, and i want some wheels that doesnt stick out of the fenders too much. i guess the Trail King is same width as the SCX10 II.
i want to avoid fender flares, but i will consider them as a option if absolutely needed.

i would like it to look something like a stock RC4WD Trail Finder 2

https://www.rccaraction.com/rc4wd-tr...i-4-door-body/

or like this SCX10 using the 4 door Hilux body in this video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBk8rYrV6uE

of course when looking at the wheels on the manufacturer page, there is no mention of the offset.. which can be found here: https://store.rc4wd.com/RC4WD-Mickey...el_p_2972.html

i have read a lot about offsets but it is pretty confusing.

does positive offset means the wheels will move out away from the axles, or is it the other way??

at first i was looking at RC4WD OEM 6-Lug Stamped Steel 1.55" Beadlock Wheels, but looking at the cross section drawing i have the feeling they will poke out quite some. so i found another set which i think pokes out less.

RC4WD Raceline Revolver 1.55" Beadlock Wheels

the plan was to buy it all then assemble the car, but i think it might be better to assemble the car, then find the wheels as i can then measure on the

anyway, im also open to other wheel suggestions.

TK/10ii axles are wider than a TF2 axle. Most wheels will stick out, and quite a bit.

Maybe if you get some deep dish wheels then bolt the hub on the front face so the hex is sucked deep into the wheel?

I put a Marlin body on my 10ii, and almost the whole wheel stuck out. Granted, I did have 6mm extenders on both sides, but they still stuck out without them. You can see pictures here: SLN’s Axial Experience

SLN is right, its tough to not have some poke with most bodies.

I'd also recommend looking for narrow tires too, the Pit bull tires in that video are nice and narrow but they are 1.9's

I'll say the best way to get narrow is a narrowed axle. BeefTubes makes narrowed SCX10.2 axles, I was able to get a 8 1/4" track width using them with regular old SSD wheels and the PitBull A/T Hardcore Scale R/C Tires (same tires from the video). With a similar wheel (in terms of offset) my Trail king has a 9" trackwidth.

With a narrow wheel you do have to worry about whether it will clear the knuckle which is why there arent too many narrow offerings

some poke is fine, like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otuO5RK48AM
but i want to avoid clearance issues with steering too.
extreme poke as shown with ScaleLifeNewbie's SCX10 II is way too much :O

I built this back in the days of the scx10. Tamiya Hilux...

Same axle width as a Trail King....

It morphed into A trail King...

Things broke, stuff got cut off. And it is an amazing performer...

It was at its narrowest with the pin drive 1.9" rc4wd steelies and Boggers. The stock flares cover about half the tread. Unfortunately, that leaves half the tread sticking out.

if you were using 3 peice axial axles i would say narrow the axles but i dont know if its as easy on the trail king axles but they shouldent be that hard to narrow ether
im guessing that would be your best bet other than rc4wds not as strong axles

Worth a shot, if he messes up he can just buy a new axle tube

i dont want to mess with axles, i already have something else in for that. i have seen a handful of SCX10's / SCX10 II's with the Hilux 2 door body the way im looking for, but the offset is confusing.
does more positive offset pushed the wheels out, or is it the other way? i want to figure out how much the wheels would poke out, and decide to what wheels to pick, and to get over fenders or not.

positive offset sucks it in more. negative offset pushes the wheel out.

In the video you posted, it looks like he converted it with K44 axles, which are as narrow as the Yota axles and significantly narrower than the SCX or TK axles. There are a couple of narrow offset rims that might help with getting a narrower stance with the SCX and TK axles...

https://store.rc4wd.com/Vintage-Yota...ar_p_7223.html

https://store.rc4wd.com/Stamped-Stee...in_p_7785.html

These even show the over-all width on the SCX axles which could help you in measuring your over hang.
Hope this helps...

thanks that is what i need to know.

now something i done get is why these two wheels with quite different offset would end up at same width.
negative offset 6.2mm https://store.rc4wd.com/OEM-Stamped-...in_p_5779.html
positive offset 5.7mm https://store.rc4wd.com/OEM-6-Lug-St...in_p_7607.html

i think those wheels had gone under my radar, havent noticed them. they are worth looking at.

there is also this wheel with massive 13.4mm positive offset, but i suspect it will have clearance issues.. https://store.rc4wd.com/RC4WD-Raceli...ls_p_4705.html

The offset in the diagrams for both of those rims, are the same 5.7mm, but their measurements are inconsistent between the diagrams and the printed measurements. If you look at both of them at the same time and compare what they have as measurements, you can see that something is not right.

Different wheels with the same width, same offset and same back spacing cannot be different widths on the same axle unless they are using different thickness hex's. 1 or 2mm difference in width over-all, isn't very much but there is 4mm difference between the hex widths. It's hard to get accurate measurements without actually doing it ourselves. The Revolvers are pretty nice but might be a tight fit on SCX10 axles.

You hit it right on the head - I was looking at the images last night and frankly thought my brain broke, the measurements in the diagram were identical even though the product descriptions were different.

I believe that these are identical wheels except for the lug count - one set is 5lug and the other 6...

There's just a typo on the description.

i wasnt sure if it was because of wrong description or because i didnt understand it. anyway, looks like i can scratch those wheels from the list.

im also checking out Boomracing.
https://www.boomracingrc.com/#horizontalTab1
https://www.boomracingrc.com/155-ter...n-metal-135963

but i think i should assemble the kit now, then i can get to actually see how things look, and take measures.
