Default New rubbers for LCG - PL Micky Thompsons Baja Prox but what...

compound?

What are the biggest differences between the G8 and the Predator compound?
Anyone care to tackle that rundown?

Seems the G8s are preferred but is there really that much difference?

Predator is super soft, works good in cool climates but they wear out too fast for my liking.
G8 is a stiffer compound, lasts longer but still works incredibly well.
When I was in Oregon I had some predator tires I would run in the winter months, but if you ran them when it was warm, they would feel greasy and slick. I’ve done some pretty steep and technical lines with g8 compound in the cold and wet.. and now that I’m back in SoCal g8 is all I will run as the rock down here will shred the soft predator compound. I think there’s a time n place for each, just gotta decide which is right for you.

Thank you very much that is very helpful. I got the predators. But I will get a pair of the g8 for summer. I live in Mass. So cold for a good part of the year but gets hot enough in the summer to wear out soft rubber.

Do you have any suggestions for good aluminum headlock tires? The bead locks I got from proline with my tires are plastic and cheap I don’t like them at all.

I have multiple sets of aluminum bead locks off of Amazon. Haven't had a problem with any of them.
I run almost exclusively G8, the predator compound tends to roll the lugs over. G8 Krawlers are awesome once you burn them in and round off the lugs. This takes a while thou, like ready for a new set of foams.

I run predator on my gaylers. In all but the hottest months they rule up here. A set lasts about a year until I'm wearing through the carcass in front of the lugs.

No problem Man, hope it helps. Yea eBay/Amazon aluminum bead locks are hard to beat. Although I mainly run vp wheels now. Just make sure they will clear your portal if that’s what you’re running

Thanks for the info Fricker. Thats what I thought. Winter is too cold for me unless I get inside someplace. Hands cant deal with under 50* well anymore.
So G8s sounds like the way to go even here in Michigan...
