Default Thought on the wheel narrowing

Could you not just splice a 1" (or whatever width you determined) section from the center of the rim and not even mess with the beads?? Is this being done already or can it not be done ? - maybe I just aint getting it???

that's what i did to my Maxx axles. they have 2 air holes in them. so i made a line around it there and cut, then the back section i cut off to the first ring. now i can mount my tire anywhere from 3/4"-1 1/4".. i like the 3/4" better though. it really wraps the tread around

Sure. You can do it that way too. You just may loose some of the wheel's strength. The bond must be very strong between the two pieces.

You didn't specify what kinda wheel, but that's how I've always
done my Clod wheels. The two pieces slip one inside the other perfectly.

That's how I did my 40's. You have to sand the 2 halves on a flat surface so there is NO gaps between the two when you glue them. I think a lot depends on which wheel you are useing, as far as narrowing method goes.

I narrow mine on the Dremel press and use the center section that I remove as a sleeve to reinforce the bonded area.
