| Knock-off LST tread 2.2 tires?
I remember, atleast I think I remember, seeing a post about some knock-off brand of an LST tread design. If I'm not mistaken it was a 2.2 size as well. I've been searching for a while now with no results. Does anyone happen to remember this? Thanks.

There is a Mini LST tire, which I don't think is 2.2, and there are these Losi tires, which are 2.2, but I've never seen them in action: |

Ah, whole truck, that explains why I couldn't find it. Plus I don't think I'll buy a truck to get tires. Says they're 120mm, which is around 4.7", shorter than moabs or mashers. Thanks for finding though guys. It was driving me nuts. Maybe cut some LSTs down to 2.2. Shouldn't be any harder than cutting a 2.2 down to 1.9.

has anybody else tried asking if the tires were available separatly as replacement parts? I sent the ebay seller that deals these knock-off trucks the question. I will post back what he says if he answers me. I like these tires a lot on my larger scale trucks and I think a 2.2 version would be really nice. Acording to the supplied measurements, they look to be really close to the same height as masher2K's if not slightly taller...(they are listed as 120mm, which when I measured against my masher2k's is the same height or slightly taller.) Just build them If I can make 8 1/2" LST's,I know you can make 2.2 LST's. If you want to,you can build any size tire with any tread for any wheel. It's just a matter of cutting and glueing |

Thinking back on the cutting down of the LSTs, I ran some numbers. Going from a 3.2" rim to a 2.2" rim would be cutting out 112.5 degrees of the pie(tire) out. Assuming the tire is 6.9" Od, then taking out 112.5 degrees makes the outside diameter 4.72". I was kind of hoping you could make a larger tire than that. Could always use sidewalls from another taller 2.2 tire, but then it's getting into making a frankenstein tire. Just thinking out loud though.

He's from Sweden, maybe something was lost in translation. I always give the benefit of the doubt, bet he speaks our language better than we speak his.

Thx jamus. This is the reson i dont post veryoften to this board, most of you guy's have to cool down. Everytime you miss something or ask a question that has a simple answer for you, you get flamed big time. That is the only negative side on this board. So cool down a little will you!!!!!!!! |

Bringing this back instead of starting a new one. I've got some LSTs coming, thanks 666. Gonna take raptorman's advice and make my own 2.2 LSTs. I'm thinking about 5.5" tall or maybe even 5.75". I'm planning on trying something a little different though. Has anyone thought about using the TLT tires and wheels as the base sidewall? I figure I could use what I have, plus the smaller front of the rim would give it a different look. If my math is right, there should be enough sidewall height on the TLTs to glue to. At any rate, I'll post up some pics once I start working on them.

Math shmath. A tape measure is all you need When I built my 8 1/2" LST's,I used Kong sidewalls and LST tread sections. Theres a thread here somewhere where I explained it pretty good on how I did my cuts. Search for 8 1/2" LST's and it should bring it up. Just use my methods and scale them down Whatever tire you use for the sidewall, cut as much of it as you can,to keep a taller sidewall. Whatever the remaining height you want is,pull down on the LST's and cut. Keep in mind the top and bottom of the tire though, you gotta cut smart and keep the cuts smooth and true |
