Tire Venting vs. Wheel Venting

I just got my Erickson Beadlocks. They're so pretty that I'm having trouble with just the thought of drilling holes into them;-) . I haven't tried running a vented tire.

Has anyone found a differences in performance when running a vented tire vs. a vented rim?

When venting a tire, where are the holes usually placed?

Tire venting is usually reserved for racing. The higher speeds work to fling sand out of the tire vent holes.

R/c crawling is far more dirty. Water, mud, and small pebbles can make their way in the tire and not out do to the low speeds. Wheel venting lowers your risk as you would have to get hub deep before water would be a problem. Most people run BB's in their tires too.

Tire venting is generally drilled holes in the center of the tires tread.
