I don't use flux. I have a really good solder gun though. I think the radio shack stuff would work just fine.

Ok i'll try that. I've been soldering without flux and using regular solder. It's held up ok but after a couple months, it would come apart. Mostly the wire pulls out of the solder. It's just kinda hard to get it to stick at first and after a couple tries it becomes a mess. So i'm trying flux this time around.

Thanks

You have to use some kind of flux. Either the flux core solder, or use a separate flux with solid core solder. I prefer to use flux core solder for small eletrical stuff. I was a plumber for 11 years so I know a thing or two about soldering. And for this kind of soldering I like to use a solder with a lil bit of silver in it as well. Takes a lil more heat to get it to flow but less resistance in the joint.
And pre tin your connections. Then connect your joints and solder together. Done deal........
