hey, im 13 and i got a new craftsman table for christmas. i had to build the whole things and it was fun. i can get some pics for you if you like. its got a shelf on the bottom and 3 drawers. you can get if from sears and its aroung $100 or more.

First off you have to be very honest with your parents, and tell them that messes will be made and you need to get a cheap vacuum cleaner, windex, and some old wash cloths or rags. Then buy kits like drill bit kits and organizers cause your gonna end up with lots of tools and parts.

Here is my office workspace, I use my garage for any welding or rough fabrication.

Well it's not pretty, but I was forced into this situation about a month ago. Typically I have a somewhat clean work area but this is what I have for the time being



. Granted this is a extremely temporary situation, but for now it works . . . .

HOLLY COW , Rockmonster can you say obsession , sheeesh.

A work area can be what you make of it , small or big , as long as it is organized , it will work well. I make custom hand made knives as a hobby. I am just getting into RCRC , thank goodness I have a shop. I went from a 24 X24 garage to a 12 X 26. I got all of the same tools in it . It is just more organised now. Look for tools at pawn shops and yard sales. Harbour Freight has cheap tools , but they work too. I have plenty of them.

getting the tools at thrift stores and otherplaces is good. I LOVE HARBOR FREIGHT
i like the knives too.

look for a cheap computer desk and put that thick flexible stuff for the computer chair to roll around on on top of the surface of the computer desk

Now that's what I call race shop organized well lit and inviting. Your shop is over the top Racer I consider you a mentor I personally believe the better the work area the better the work. Outstanding

I have a space just like that (and is approved for workshop/hobby room).
I am going to put tools in it though, like work on one side, tools (grinding wheel, drill press ect) on the other. I have a question about your bench.
How do you have it mounted to the wall and how much weight do you think it will hold? I want mine to be at a comfortable height that a stool/chair can be used or so I can stand at it and I really like the shelf storage underneath. Did you get plans form somewhere or build as you went (which is what I would probably do).

OMG, that space RULES. I would love to be able to do something like that, but the rest of the basement is being set aside for a family room deal.

I bolted the bench to the wall . I did not have plans I just went with it

One little trick I learned in my early teens was to go to yard sales and but up craftsman tools broken or not. I would just take them back to sears and get new ones.
