I use a band saw, with a metal specific blade.

(p.s. there is a tools and procedures forum ;)

Unless you have access to a mill, then band saw is probably your best bet. Use a fine tooth blade, if the blade is too aggressive (coarse) then you'll end up breaking the teeth off it.

Best way to cut stainless, is to let someone else cut it for you.

A Bandsaw will work Ok if you use a good fine-tooth, bi-metal blade, but cutting stainless without lots of coolant will dull it quickly. Slow speeds and heavy feed rates with sufficient emulsion lubricant will help prevent rapid dulling of saw teeth.

I haven’t tried them yet, but this company offers cut-off discs just for cutting Stainless. http://news.thomasnet.com/fullstory/28970/1106

Oxy-Acetylene is almost useless for cutting Stainless. Not recommended.
Abrasive cutting will work, but leaves an edge that needs to be dressed up.
My Dad used to use carbon-arc with a stick welder to cut stainless panels.
Plasma and Laser are the two methods used commercially now.

For fastening:
Rivets & bolts work, but drilling the holes will wreck havoc with your drill bits.
Silver solder works fine, just be sure to tell your welding supplier what you are doing, so they sell you the correct grade silver solder for stainless.
You can also weld it (stick, MIG, TIG).
You can use oxy/acetylene to braze it with a braze paste for stainless.

I wouldn’t recommend Stainless for RC work. It’s heavy and a PITA to work with.
But…. If you’re going to build a Pulse-Jet to power your crawler, then Stainless is your friend.
