Default Open source or free sw to replace Autocad

I think it has been asked millions of times but the software world evolves so fast I thought it was better to ask again in order to have fresh news.
Is there an open source or free software which can be used to replace autocad for, at least, the simplest tasks ?

Thanks
Filippo

Thats the only way I do it. I tryed the software but it just made things harder for me. Easier to just draw it out on paper. imo

Not sure if anyone is still reading this thread, but you can go to http://autodesk.com and download a free version of Maya. Its used for 3d graphics and animation.
