Do you just make up a jig and bend around pieces of dowel on the table or do you just eyeball it and do it by hand, or do you use hand benders? I'm curious because i would like to do a tuber this winter based on my TLT/pede tranny/2.2wheels and all that. Thanks.

I think most guys use the brakeline benders that have degree markings on them and use pipes and other things to bend it..But couldn't tell ya since I have never built a tube chassis before. Maybe you could read the Tech article on building a tube chassis :?

u can manualy bend it with your fingers, but u have to have an exremly sharp eye. your safest bet, if this is your first one, u should use a brakeline bender like twisted said, or use a jig.

Well, as for bending, i'll have to look into those benders? The tech article didn't say much about what kind of tool or name or brand of tool to use, to the best of my knowledge.

this is wrote in that article Bending steel tubing is fairly easy, it just takes a little practice and patience. I have several automotive hand tubing benders that work very well. Try a few bends and you'll get the hang of the bending dimensions. I also recommend bending hoops starting from the centerline and working each direction with the bends. You'll find that each bend will have a slight directionality and bending from the center out in each direction will keep the hoop more symmetric. I also occasionally hand bend tubing around solid round stock, as needed, for oddball shapes or radii. The form below is made from two pieces of aluminum rod and a piece of steel plate. I use it to bend stick pack cradles.

Right, ive read that like 4 times, but i didn't know if there were any specific benders out there that were any better than the others. I know i'd want one that can do 180 degree bends as opposed to the 90 degree versions.

no not really. Most people use the one brakeline bender that is pictured, which has 3 different size grooves in it for various tubing sizes. it also has the degree marks on it which helps making the same bends. I use that most of the time, but i use various stuff to bend with since i don't like always having the same radius of a bend. they make a cheap bender that you can bend 180* with, but it is not very straight. it would be easier to just make some type of jig or something to do that on

Most of us use this bender right here: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...poster&t=14013 I eyeball things and use something around the garage to bend the tubing. No jigs, no "tubing benders".
