Yep, oven cleaner will work well. It will remove anodize from metal and "chrome" from plastic parts as well...

I used DRAIN-O crystals, mixed it up in some water and let the parts soak for about 8 minutes or so, rinsed and then cleaned em up with scotch brite pad like billygoat said.

Draino crystals in warm water eats anodizing very quickly. Just don't breathe the fumes |

The Easy off low fumes type doesn't work if that's what you tried..... Gotta be the Heavy Duty stuff. I use the gel liquid plumber and it worked great for me. I let it set for about 15-20 minutes and then rinse it off. |

I have used LYE in warm watter. Just dont smell or get on skin. It removes the anodizing in about 1 to 2 min, you will se it bubble. Rinse with cold watter and polish to desired finish. I do this to non anodised parts because it tends to give the parts a slight bead blasted look.

DrainO Gel! Get a aluminum tray (3 for $.99 @ WalMart, there about 8"x4"x3") always wear gloves doing any of this! Pour the DrainO into the tray just deep enough for the parts to be covered. Let them sit in it for about 5 minutes. They aluminum tray gets warm from the DrainO. Pull the parts out with tongs of something of the sort. Rinse them off good. The Draino will be discolored from the parts being striped. The parts will look grey or a blackish color when they come out. Wipe them off with a towel. Your parts will be color free at this point. If they are not drop them back into the tray for a few more minutes checking them as you go till they are done. Use a Dremel or buffer to polish them out. I've tried almost all the different ways of striping the parts and the Draino Gel is the quickest and is super easy! I can do a entire Axial AX-10 from start to finish in about a hour. Just take your time polishing them and you will have some Bling links or parts Or if you just don't want to take the time to do it shoot me a PM, I offer polishing on parts Let me know what you have and I'll give ya a quote Last edited by TattooKenny; 12-08-2008 at 03:02 AM. I prefer to use the oven cleaner, if you use the right stuff, it will only take a minute or two, and you can watch the color run off. Zero patience for waiting for me |

i use heavy duty easy off (the yellow can) it works great.. i spray it let it sit for a min and watch the color start to fade.. then rinse the parts in warm water and repeat if anything is left. ps- some parts have a thicker coating so the process take a lil bit long since you have to do it over and over.. good luck |
