| Brass brazing
I was wondering if you can braze steel to brass and how well brass brazes. I'm trying to find some 3/8 x 3/16 rectangular tubing and I've seen it in brass but I want get some in steel. any ideas? I don't want to have slice up peices of square tubing and stuff down the center either. |

Brass tubing of this size is kinda thin walled, it would probably melt before the brazing rod does. Solid brass is OK and you can join various different metals with brazing. Silver solder (safty silv 56) can be used and will make a strong bond between steel and brass. The online "Brazing book" has all sorts of info on joining various materials with charts facts and figures, here is the link. http://www.handyharmancanada.com/The...ents.htm#Index |

Yea, I've been brazing for a while, got it all figured out. Just figuring out what to use for a square tube frame for a new chassis and how brass reacts.
