Mine arrived yesterday. Bought it from the same seller listed on page 1 of this thread. I was impressed, he shipped the same day and it arrived here in two weeks. The camera comes with the USB charger, so no need to buy that. Only thing was the instructions were all in Chinese! Luckily, he posted the instructions on the auction as well.

Anyways, plugged in a memory card, fired it up, and what do you know, it worked! Will have to test it more over the weekend but it does seem like a good cheap option for onboard video, plus this sucker is so tiny, it'll fit anywhere. Hell, it could easily go on a micro vehicle!

just got an e mail from tech support about the time and date stamp
hope it helps.

Quote:
sorry, it can't remove the time and date stamp.
but can reset:
Time set

1) Delete everything on the MicroSD card.
2) Create a text file called TAG.TXT in the root directory of the MicroSD card.
3) Open TAG.TXT and enter the following, correcting the date and time:

*example

[date]
2009/09/27
21:00:00

4) Save TAG.TXT.
5) Eject and power-on the camera. The system will analyze TAG.TXT, then set system time according to what the file indicates. After that the text file will be deleted by the system automatically.

thanks.

Good stuff. Thanks for posting that up!

A few pics:

Everything it comes with:

USB port (left) and micro SD card port (right). The memory card goes in upside down and clicks in. It's spring loaded, so you just need to push it in a little bit to get it to pop out (just like on most cameras). The thing is tiny, so either grow out your nails or have something similar small to be able to push it in!

Camera lens in the middle, sound port on the left:

Compared to my own car FOB:

And a quick video:

As you can see, this was early morning light, so I was really making the little camera work with the light compensation.

I am all over this! Most PC's are capable of reading these cards as far as I know. Is it just connected to your PC via the USB cord?
Very cool, Im all over this!!!!!!!

Yep. I bought a 4GB micro SD card at wally world. It came with an SD adapter card. Basically, just pop the micro SD card out of the camera, put it in the adapter, and plug into your SD port on your computer.

Can probably use the USB port just as easily. I've always just preferred to read directly from the card for my digital camera so doing the same thing with this little guy.

Out of the gear that I have used, if a camera is going to be mounted on an RC, especially our rock crawlers.... GoPro's kick ass. Mine has rolled down rocky hills with an 8lb scale rig smashing it into the rocks. The outer case is tough. Being shock proof, waterproof and easy to use makes me really like it. Now with the HD unit being available, Might be time to upgrade my GoPro too.

GoPro = no worries about mud, water, dirt, vibrations, or damage(except lens face). The viewable area is one huge advantage over those other small cameras. Without the wide angle lens, you won't be able to see much unless you're a few feet away.

Down side to the GoPro is the size. It is kind big.

I use a Epic Stealth Cam http://www.epicstealthcam.com/

Does everything the GoPro does and comes with a waterproof case. Also has 6 different mounts to mount it. It's small, easy to mount, and not bad on the wallet

I love how they tell you in the instructions which buttons to push, but on the actuall unit, they arent marked!!!! I guess it takes a bit of experimenting!
The instructions kill me too! Hilarious "ENGRISH"

from what I have seen and been able to play with outside of the RC world, (used to work retail), I am not really diggin' the GOPRO. They are durable as heck, but you usually pay quite a bit for them. I noticed that OREGON makes a pretty good cam that is a little less expensive (usually) than the GOPRO. Jus' my 2cents.

Question, what file formats does it record with avi, flv, mpeg4 ? How long does the battery last, I was looking at the key chain one.

I have to admit, I do like my Go-Pro and it does take a healthy hit without damage, but it is hard to keep the lens clear when running in the snow
