Where to buy Delrin?

As the title says.............

C*H*U*D 11-15-2009 09:10 PM

Hey Bigpopa,

Wasn't going to reply until I saw how close you are.....I buy from Colorado Plastics in Boulder. Go in and ask if you can look through their scrap bins. That's where they put all of their cut-offs and discard pieces and sell for a discount. For RC parts, the pieces are more than big enough:

x2 on mcmaster-carr. fastest shipping of any company ive ever encountered and decent prices on everything, and its always of good quality.

CRSMacgyver 11-16-2009 08:51 AM

X3 on mcmaster. That is where I get most of mine. I also use Piedmont Plastics here in Charlotte.

mrdrinksalil 11-16-2009 10:01 AM

it looks like mcmastercarr has different kinds of derlin. Can anyone explain whats best for link, chassis, skids, ect??

yjdavid 11-16-2009 10:15 AM

i would use this for links
http://www.mcmaster.com/#8572k52/=4j2y7r

and this for skids
http://www.mcmaster.com/#8573k15/=4j2yux

when you search for delrin, just click delrin down below when it gives you all the options... delrin is a BRAND of acetal products.

somewhere on here is a thread completely explaining the differences between all the different types... but i cant find it right now, im sure the search button and some time will find it.

@bigpopa, local is best, since you won't have to wait for it, and won't pay for shipping...

As far as mcmaster is concerned, I have mixed results.

In February of this year, I ordered 2x black 5ft delrin rod, and 2x white 5ft delrin rod, and shipping was $13.75.

Then, in September this year, I ordered the exact same materials, and shipping this time was only $5.75.

So ordering the same thing, with the same method produced different results. Both orders were the exact same, but shipping was way less the second time.

The only thing I don't like is you don't know how much shipping is until they charge your card. Other than that, I am very satisfied with them...

BTW, I'll have to check out the place in Boulder some time.

They carry alot of Derin; flat round etc...and will cut it for ya too"thumbsup"

wanantrdsc 11-16-2009 08:27 PM

Could always check eBay, they have lexan, s.s., plexi, AL, nylon, kydex, etc.

I think some of the cutting boards may also be delrin, but could be wrong, maybe just a nylon polymer. If you are doing a chassis, they work though.

i love mcmaster. they have a warehouse near my work...i call my order in and pick it up an hour later"thumbsup"

If you have a local branch, Grainger carries almost any size or shape you would want. If they don't have it in stock, they will order it with free shipping. I bought a 3ft. pc of rod for $1.06. Check out their website www.grainger.com.
