making a roll cage... hey guys will this work for making roll cages? i dont want to spend alot of money buying a torch! http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=42099 |
Nope. You'll have to get it a lot hotter than that is capable of. Are you going to braze it or silver solder it? |
the melting point of the brazing rod is like 1300 degrees, maybe less. That one gets to 2000, so it should work..but why buy that. Just go to home depot and get the actual one everyone uses :? just a basic mapp torch http://www.rccrawlermedia.com/rcc-al...C_006F_001.jpg |

http://www.rccrawlermedia.com/rcc-al...0/MVC_005F.jpg Traxxas- Yes I got it from Homedepot.. Just ask someone for a Propane torch. Then you just need to get a Mapp bottle. Or you can just buy the torch tip and then the bottle. What exactly are you bending?? Only time I have ever needed heat to bend something, is when I had a very small radius and had to bend tubing by hand and it was a custom bend. Any other time my brakeline bender will bend it, even 1/4" solid rod |

You need to clearly explain what you are trying to accomplish here for anyone to help you. What material are you using? Are you looking at brazing or welding the material? Spell it all out for us. Better yet, do some searching around the forums here for tuber builds, the use of brakeline, and MAPP Gas. Odds are, most of your questions have already been answered multiple times. |
ooh yeah most of my answers have been answered :flipoff: biatch:flipoff: (robb) anywase had to get tht out .... hopefully this link wrks for you guys (tht like to take the time to help someone trying to learn how to do this stuff like twistedcreations) http://www.homedepot.com/prel80HDUS/...rchResults.jsp |
it is called Bernz-O-Matic Brass Utility Propane Torch i think this is the one twisted creations was talking abt cuz there is only like 2 they sell there i need it for soldering isnt it the same thing as brazing? |
You have six posts in this thread, and have yet to explain what you are trying to accomplish, other than "make roll cages." You can make roll cages out of drink straws if you want. Good Luck! Maybe some others here can read your mind better than I can. |
