| Your rotary "dremel" tool finds/suggestions
Hello, Brock and I were working on my LCC and Custom A Tube Buggy today. With the help of our new 936Welder We got them both running thank goodness but realized we needed a new "ROTARY" (DREMEL) tool. Only after Raping the Lost button and wasting tons of time. Its time for a poll/well kinda, Just pimp the best rotary tool you've ever owned please. If we knew all the good manufacturers of them I would love to start a poll and see what most popular Rotary tool bought and horror stories etc etc. So the best part of this is whats best/worst experience with your tool! DREMEL? PROXXON KAWASAKI |

Still a big fan of the Dremel.... always decent. Oh yeah, and the fiber reinforced cutoff wheels rock!

I use the "Craftsman" labeled rotary tool; it's about the same thing as the standard Dremel, as far as I know. I've had it several years and she seems to still be goin' strong. The only problems I have ever had with it are the user's. Seriously, I've been pretty rough on it and the only thing to show for it, so far, have been bits of flying cut-off disc(s) when I break them. $1 Store goggles are a great investment to go along with it...lol. I had a Craftsman rotary tool for 20+ years that finally died on me after lots and lots and lots of use. IMO can't go wrong w/ Craftsman. |

Here's what you do. Look online at a dremel tools specs. Motor size, amps, rpms and so on. Then look online at the black & decker rotary tool they sell at walmarts specs. Then I want you to go back to the dremel page and look at the price. Then go to the other black & decker page and tell me what you see.......I went with the Black & decker one at wal-mart. Had more power same rpms and to be honest the damn thing looked twice as cool. YOU CANT BOG THAT BITCH DOWN! All the dremel accessories fit it. Not to mention if it breaks........walmart will take back anything. Black & Decker FTW

Hey thanks for your input... I searched hi-&-low for best all around "ROTARY TOOL" as I used to have a low power dremel rotary at shop for years doing weird jobs/dash work mostly on the dual sports cars. The one we had was weak though. That tool box got sold so I need a new rotary. I read a ton of neg feedback on amazon about the XPR DREMEL that I wanted... So it looks like I'll be getting a PROXXON Pro?????????? |

DEZFAN,JEEPINCA, Hey will craftsman take it back if it breaks "lifetime" or do they just do 1 year warranty? That Proxxon has huge reviews/power comes with 2 year. Ive always had craftsman tools and loved them. | |

| http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...ears_productpg Craftsman does not offer their "lifetime" warranty on power products. Power tools fall under a pretty crappy "limited one year warranty" Can't beat Craftsman for hand tools but I've never had good luck with their powered stuff. Don't get me started on their lame excuse for battery operated tools... For what it's worth Black and Decker OWNS DeWalt... so for the low $ B and D tools usually take care of odds and ends stuff.. and for everday use they make DeWalt... |

I had a Dremel XPR. But it lost a wind or two about a year later. It would still work, but sometimes it wouldn't turn on just by the switch. You had to manually jump start it. And if it got bogged down it would just stop working, and need another jump start. Have since went with the B&D. Have had it almost two years now, and it is still going strong after lots of use. |

I can't buy anything these days without doing mad research but its tough when things are so close matched, or where just a simple warranty can make decision for you. Hey can you guys post cool looking Black and Decker one please. Im leaning toward one of those or craftsman... That damn PROXXON PRO HAS EVERYTHING I want except looks big and JEBBUS could they have picked a nastier color combo! |

I have had both the B&D and the dremmel. I blew 2 B&D and now the dremmel. They are all the same to me, for what matters lifespan, if you push them to do some nasty work they will just burn. Now the dremmel has a very lowsy speed control switch it is just not precise while the B&D is much more precise and it won't change in time or with the temperature (dremmel seems to speed up when it gets hot).

that B&D unt does look pretty nice. I had a dremel for a long time, finally burned out the motor on it, bought a replacement and let the magic smoke out of it during the 1st use, exchanged it for another new one, which has also burned out after maybe a month of use. Currently looking for a 1/8th inch collet for my air grinder, tired of crappy motors burning out. |
