relatively.... crawler gears don't see that high of torque or speed compared to many industrial applications.

Being that everything in a crawler could be treated as an open gear application (since the axles and gearboxes don't really seal) I'd use a grease specific for open gear applications like JAX Gear Guard Synthetic. I've got some to run in my crawler

Work for a Chrysler dealer and have been using bearing grease in all the diffs and on the gears and joints and is works mint.

On the electronics I use di-electric grease i have tried others but for free the mopar stuff is the best for me.

I go with marine grease if I know I'm going into some deep water and mud. I like how it helps repel the H2o and dirt from the axles.

I would say marine grease if you go in water? I have boats and i have been using the proboat marine grease for everything! it works in my 1/8 brushess revo, my 1/16 slash, i use it in my trani to keep the sand out of my dune bugy stampede! Think about it...its engineered to keep water out of your stuffing tube wile not bing slung out! My boat shafts turn up to 50,000rmp so i would hope that it would hold on to a crawler axle. eather way... use what you got and somthing is always better than nothing!!! Just my two pennys

I used some 80w gear oil I had lying around. I am miles away from well educated regarding gear oil, but at the temperatures, speeds, and pressures I can't imagine it matters whether you lube with crisco or gear jelly. I also run a full synthetic for 15k miles per change in a hot rodded engine.

Maybe one of the engineers can chime in since my entire education about oil and it's effectiveness is related to a closed system with journal bearings that produce high pressure.

I use Mobil 1 synthetic grease in my axles and transmission. Ive taken them apart , it works great. Its easy to get autozone has it along with any major auto parts stores. Ya its a little bit more money but you dont have to maintain it all that well.

I have heard this more than a few times and when I run out of Axial tranny grease (which looks just like marine grease to me), I will prolly switch to Marine grease. I've heard it has really good heat reduction qualities as well.

+1. As a fellow Pballer I was wondering the same thing. And, in addition, is there any use for Dow 55? I have all kinds of both laying around. Can anyone elaborate on this?

Default Lithium Complex

Does anyone know if a semi-synthetic lithium complex grease is okay to use with plastics?

The reason I ask is because big tubes of it come with actuator rebuild kits at work and there is always lots left over after a rebuild. Its red and extremely sticky.

Thanks
