ok so i want to make a custom tube frame and was wondering about what thickness of solid rod to use, i want something that is strong and that i can weld with a oxyaccetaline welder.(ive heard any where from 1/4inch to 3/8 inch solid rod) also what about things like body pannels, trans plates, and skid plates? |

Most of us use 3/16 tubing or 3/16 brake line for most of the stuff. You could use some 3/16 rod to add strength in certain areas if you want.

3/16" tubing is tough to weld without a MIG/TIG welder. you can use your oxy rig at low flame to braze using Harris Silver Solder. There are many a tuber running out there completely built with brazing.
