Default My tubing bender

This is my version of the "bob1961 bender". I've been meaning to make one for quite awhile and found a few spare minutes to throw this together.

I used a 3/8-16 bolt with a half inch spacer. The spacer was drilled out to 3/8" and is .190" long. I used a .250" diameter pin that is set at .575" from the centerline of the bolt...it could have been a bit closer, but works. This is with brakeline, but I plan to use a thicker walled 1010 steel tube. I had a slight bit of a kink in the first test piece...I might shorten the spacer just a tick to keep things tighter. I also want to throw a few smaller diameter bolts into this chunk of aluminum.

Thanks to Bob for posting up his original idea

hey nice bender and thx fer da plug ....yeah you need to keep the washers tight on the tube....i tighten it down on the tube so it can't move and get those nice clean bends ........bob

Nice work, C*H*U*D! Thanks for finding the time to make a second one! I bent up some test pieces and this thing kicks ass. Now I just need to find some time to use it

i notice you used 3/8" bolt, try using a 5/16" or even a 1/4" bolt to get smaller radius bends ..........bob

I plan to...That's why I used a longer piece of aluminum and drilled the holes on the end. Gives me room to add more bolts later

I'm going to try to copy this. I really don't have threading capabilities, but thinking I could probably make it a thru bolt configuration with a nut on the other side.

might be a dumb question but are you using something as a lever to do the bending, or do you just arm strong it?

Very clever, I like it. Gonna have to do something like this and make it a permanent tool on the RC fabricating bench.

Do you think this tool would be strong enough to do slight bends on 3/16 Ti rod for custum upper links, instead of having them made from someone else ...
