Default Good deal on Safety-Silv

I don't know if any of you guys have bought Harris Safety-Silv lately, but with the price of precious metals going up (silver is around $35 per oz right now, it was at $20 less than 2 years ago and $10 3 years ago) it is getting expensive. My local welding shop tried charging me $71 for one troy ounce of Safety-Silv 56 last week. I searched around last week and ordered a silver solder kit from Home Depot online. Search Home Depot part #100672839. It's a one ounce roll of Safety-Silv 56 and a 1.75 ounce container of flux for $33.99. Not sure how many they have available, but this is the best deal you are going to find for awhile. They also have 45 at $29.99 part #100672835.

That's the one I ordered last night from Home Depot. $40.76 to my door and it said it was .62lbs. I can weigh it when it gets here.

Thanks for the heads up, Tim! I ordered some this morning. Taxes/shipping added $10, but it's still a good deal!

E-bay can be another good source for cheap safety silv. I got a 50t.o. box a couple of years back for around $300 shipped (i.e., 6 bucks a t.o.!). Sent the seller a lowball offer (it was a best offer sale), and he took it. Hell, I'm not passing up a deal like that

i've been using this stuff for about 3 years now http://www.acehardware.com/product/i...Id=56716262843
in most cases, a joint broke from either being inadequate for the load or improper design. all other breakages were all improper preparation. wjhats more, i could stand on some contraptions made of 1/4" rod and i have never fish mouthed! i way well over 200 lbs.

Is that the 1/32" or 1/16" wire? Looks like 1/16"

I've been resorting to buying it from the local ACE hardware, in little 1/32" wire spools, .21ozs for $17.00 .. ridiculous, but it gets me by..

It's 1/16", same as a 1 troy oz container but its coiled tighter.

I was hoping I could order and pick it up at the store...I go right by there on the way home from work. It wasn't an option, but I bought it anyway.
