Default Bernzomatic TS4000 Vs. TS8000

I have been using the TS4000 for all of my silver soldering, but just noticed the flame control knob on the TS8000. I'm pretty happy with the 4000 except for the over-sized flame. Does anyone have both of these? Does the knob control gas flow or air? I know the 8000 says it's 30% faster than the 4000, so if the knob just brings it down to the 4000's level it won't be worth it to me.

Just thought I'd ask before spending the money.

Right now a Smith torch or anything similar isn't in the budget.

sorry bud you kinda assed on this one. the ts8000 is better but the flame is the same size as the ts4000. i have adjusted the knob with no improvement. i feel they are both about the same.

Hey this is the torch I like to use when brazing small material. Im not sure off hand how much it cost. I believe it is close to the of the soldering/sweating torches.

I just picked up the ts8000 from lowes for 59.00, and it came with a bottle bag, can't wait to fire it up
My old one leaked gas like a faucet. It caught fire at the valve last week so i had to get a new one.

I've been using this one and really like it, fully adjustable flame. Right around $60 also

***It does go through the Oxygen tanks pretty quick though

Im using this too and the small flame is perfect for tube work and small brazing jobs, but just like you, I'm woofing down O2 even when using minimal amounts. I wish they sold a bigger O2 tank
