Best TIG Welder under $1000?

Looking for a TIG Welder so I can build me some Tube Chassis alot easier than what the MIG welder does. I've got about $1000 to spend on the welder and Just wondering what the best is for that much. Im looking at either Miller, Lincoln, or Hobart. Hobart is what the MIG I've been using is, but Im not Bias to hobart.

The Miller Syncrowave 250 Dx is a beast but its at least double your price range used :-( .....

Ive got a Miller Synchrowave 180 sd & I dont even know how to use it, but I think that may be out of your budget

I'm not sure you'll be able to get a miller for under a G but at work we have both miller and Lincoln and I really like the tig on the Lincoln we also have a little 110v tig that's miller and I think it cost 1500$ but it's really nice also... I'd look on craigslist and find a good used one try it b4 u buy it .. It's very possible to get a good deal on a nice unit

Do you fully know how to tig weld ? Tig welding is not easy for out-position welding. Also if you using Tig then don't use brake line, Since they all galvanized it makes it alot harder to weld.

But if you looking for Tig to stay around $1000 your looking at air cooled Tig machine.

yeah i think that you would be gettin a dry rig . If you know someone who works at a fab shop or anything like that get them to ask there supply rep big companys can get good deals on stuff that the public cant and most will let you buy it for what they paid for it

Miller maxstar STH.I Feed my family with Miller products,Would never buy anything else.
You should be able to find one on CL.

take a class(more to tig then just plug in and go, theres frequencies, ac/dc polarity, tungsten, gas mixes, different rods, techniques...etc etc etc), borrow someones machine, keep saving, go blue(miller), get a syncrowave... youll thank me later...

I've got a mastercraft 115v stick and tig was sold at canadian tire, good for 95 amps, bought for as low as 250$ in special regular price is 500$, it really looks like the thermal arc 115v from the outside but it's blue instead of red, i'm really satified with it, I made all my audi A4 stainless turbo back exhasut with it.

i think it's best bang for the bucks
