The only thing you'll get for $100 will be used. Try Craigslist.

The little tiny ones at Lowe's / Home Depot are crap. They don't go slow enough, don't bother trying to drill anything bigger than a 3/8" hole in steel.

I got a cheap little one a couple months ago. Little more than $100 but its quite solid. The only downside is that the spindle does have a bit more runout than I would like but hey for $120 its a good deal.

You could go to something like
http://www.grizzly.com/products/cate...spx?key=380000
or
http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...5427_200365427

I don't have either of those, so I really can't give you a review. I do have a Grizzly bandsaw and I've been real happy with it. Thing is it's real hard to get a good cheap tool.

That's my biggest concern when is comes to a drill press. If it's got any noticeable runout it can make things VERY difficult to drill accurately. If possible, power it up before buying. Hopefully it at least won't have any visible runout when running. And yes, adjustable speeds is important, too.

Dont get me wrong, the one I bought is about as precise as you are going to get with a cheap drill press. The runout in the spindle is less of a problem then my horrible alignment. Hahaha.

The use of a centerpunch should eliminate the runout as a problem.

I use the ryobi from home depot, and have no problem when using a center punch.
