Default Scroll saw, harbor frieght???

Anyone have the harbor frieght scroll saw?

http://www.harborfreight.com/16-inch...r-header-93012

I know some hf stuff is decent and some is junk. Just wondering what this is. Having the variable speed is what separates it from other cheaper scroll saws i've found.

Need it to cut delrin

For weekend warrior stuff, HF stuff works ok. I have a HF mini drill press that I have used for several years and it works fine.

Yea i have abunch of hf stuff, but 30% of the time its normally junk tools that kinda get done...i don't really have the cash to find out if its junk or not...i guess i can just take it back to hf and return it if it is junk.

You trying to cut designs out or straight lines like a skid? If you are trying to cut skids and stuff like that I think a vertical bandsaw with a little deeper blade would probably give you better results.

HF stuff is great for light work, just make sure you buy the extended warranty and if the tool breaks you just take it back and get a new one.....that easy

I have a DELTA SHOPMASTER model SS350
its a 16" variable speed scroll saw.

I'd be willing to sell/trade.

Looking for berg parts(300's) or DH wheels and weights.
I've seen this saw go for over $450 online....just a thought

I bought a Performax brand 16" from Menards for about $70. It's got variable speed and a LED flexible work lamp. My only complaint is I had to modify/repair the bolt hole that secures the upper blade clamp. All in all I like it, cuts Delrin nicely and will do 1/8" aluminum with care.

I use a hand held jig saw, mine is an older Craftsman with a swiveling head that makes it easier to keep the base on a flat surface while cutting around corners. I use a medium count blade to cut fast but not leave a really rough cut edge.

For side plates, I rough out 2 pieces, then pop-rivet them together so I do both sides at once. I use aluminum large head pop-rivets
I tape my pattern to one side & then cut the outside shape & belt sand to final shape.
I drill a ~3/8" hole into each section internally that I want to cut out so I can start the blade. Then cut away. A little finish filing and it's done.
Drill holes for mounting etc. while the 2 parts are still attached.
Cut off the pop-rivets and you have 2 parts the same size & shape.

PS, if doing a plastic of some sort, I leave the protective film on until I am finished cutting/filing. I also scuff the "inside surface" with 600 grit paper, wash & then paint so I don't remove paint when crawling. Same idea as clear bodies for other types of RC.

I have that model and it works well enough. The clamp to keep pc from jumping around leaves alot to be desired but if you just hold pc down firmly while cutting its fine. I've used mine on 1/2" delrin for curved super links and it cut fine.

Yeah, I picked up an older Delta SS250 for $25 on Craigslist. The table was a little rusty, but other than that, it works perfectly fine.
