| What tool?
My b day is coming up and I was considering buying another tool for my rc. I am just wondering what you guys find you use often. I was considering a drill press, dremel, and a soldering iron, but I wasn't sure If something else would be more useful. I like to make my own parts so I am looking for something to further that interest. This will be used for my xr 10 and some of my other cars. I was also wondering about where to get materials like delrin or lexan and so forth. Brands would be nice for all the stuff too. Thanks for the input Last edited by Krawler23; 03-02-2012 at 05:12 PM. |

A lot would depend on what you already have. I would recommend a dremel, it seems to get the most use for rc and other things.

Yes a dremel is good, I use mine all the time. Another tool I cant seem to live without and I use constantly is a good belt sander. Mine has a "4x12 belt and an "8 disk on it and I use it all the time. A mini torch and good welder are also nice to have handy depending on your budget.

I have a belt sander already, so that's good. I might get a dremel then because they seem very useful. Anybody else have some input on tools or good brands for them?

^-- Blehk. I'd HIGHLY suggest a Dremel. It's about the most versatile thing you can buy for the money. It should be a prerequisite to owning a crawler. |

i would say a good knife or a multi tool. i bought a 10 piece multi tool with philips, flathead, hex, and many others for like $5 at ace hardware. (i think ace hardware is only in Wisconsin.)

i agree with everyone else, you need a dremel. they come in handy with just about everything. i recommend the model 4000 High Performance Rotary Tool / Model: 4000 . for attachments, id suggest the EZ688-01 EZ Lock and 4486 Dremel Chuck / Model: 4486 | |

Well my b day came and I got some real sweet stuff. A dremel 4000 and a craftsman drill press. I also got a harbor freight brake for my servo armor idea. I am really itching to get some home made mods rolling!

sweet deal. i have a dremel but dont use it a whole lot.. sometimes i do sometimes i dont. if i need to cut something that can be done with an angle grinder with cut off disc i'll use that but the dremel is nice for placing that the grinder cant fit. a drill press is pretty sweet too way easier than fawking around with the handheld drill.. you've sparked your interest for buying tools.... hello empty wallet!!! i use all hand tools. drill press, angle grinder, dremel, bench grinder, bandsaw, welder etc.. i'd love a little desktop cnc router but cant afford one but i do have access to a big ass one(30'x8') so thats alright. |

Sweet, I just can't justify spending all this money on vp stuff and chaotic links when I can make my own for much cheaper.
