video doesnt work for me besides that i did find it Mapp gas and torch - Lowes, homedepot will have them. I highly suggest Harris Safty Silv 56% Or 45% and flux. - get it at your local welding shop or online at Ramwelding.com 3/16 brake line. clamps and/or vise crips, magnets or other forms of holding things togeather, not necessary but helps. You'll also want a dremel to make the fishmouts. or I like to use my grinder then clean it up with my dremel. I also have an air die grinder for sanding the edges I will braze, but you can just use sand paper or your dremel. thanks tho, il leave that posted incase someone else is looking |

| Re: NooB ? Quote: everything you need to braze in one POST: torch- i use a bernzomatic oxy ace torch from canadian tire, (lowes, home depot also have them), you buy new bottles from the same store you bought your torch from... you'll see them sitting on the shelf. material- this is personal preference, i like to use 3/16" solid rod from canadian tire some use brakeline tubing, just pick one and try it see how you like it. solid rod will be a tad bit heavier if you building a chassis with it. small stuff like roll bars and crap the weight wont make a difference. -also for materials your gonna need some kind of welding rod or solder.. again this is personal preference, i use the 3/32" flux coated brazing rod and i love it simple to use. heat up both pieces of your joint to be brazed until its red hot, heat up welding rod, hold flame on your joint and dab the welding rod on the joint....done.. -some use silver solder or something like that.. i've never tried it but the welding rod works well for me. i might try solder one day.. thats it.. make sure when you get setup that your welding/brazing on a chunk of steel plate or not directly on the table top. i have steel plate about 18" by 18" (or something like that, never measured it) on the bench that i set my pieces to be welded on, because its a wooden workbench that has seen its fair share of oil and grease. have fun with it and practice lots, im a newbie at brazing myself but have figured out what works for me.. everyone is different so if you ask 20 people the same question your gonna get 20 different answers. just gotta get a general idea of the concept of brazing then dive in buy some shit and start.. | |
