One worker in my shop applied Mobile 1 engine oil to a linear guide rail so that it would not rust during the rainy season. The outcome was suprising. The linear guide rail had some kind of reaction to the oil. It ruined its shiny surface with a lot of marks on it. I am guessing the oil reaction penetrated the rail upto 0.02 mm depth.

Will post some pics tomorrow...
Synthetic oil = who knows what the formulation & components of the mix are?
I have seen very expensive air piping systems reduced to scrap from the introduction of synthetic oil. The manufacturers of synthetic oils have to meet lubrication specs that don't account for the formula or additives in the oil. What is really nice is they can change formula anytime as long as the lube specs are still met.

Petroleum based oil is at least that, petroleum.

Need to drill a 7/64 hole through 1/4 thick hardened tool steel. Will a carbide 4 flute end mill do it? Or, what do you guys recommend?

Turning the cutting tool slowly ,not to create any heat ,using a good cutting fluid... Back out and clean repeatedly,,

Off the top of my head I think it is 7mm. I will check when I get home and report back on how good my memory is.

I'm assuming that's to eliminate tool changes?

I like the video! How did you secure the blank to the table, and how did you center the X and Y axis?

I made a hole in the wood and saved the coordinates of the center of the hole, when I want to make a wheel I go to that coordinates and zero the machine, the gcode is zero in the center.
I use thin double sided tape to scure the blank, i'm using the 2mm to avoid tool change, I can make all the wheel with this tool, turn to other side, machine and after that change to drill 1.75 to drill the holes to fix beadlock.
