What kind of file did it have to be when you imported the image? I'm trying to set up an engraving cycle of our clubs symbol

I'll help where I can.
I've been in the trade now..... (fawk) over 30 years.
Mostly 6" and smaller, mild to wild materials.
Manual to CNC.
Mostly CNC lathe now.
In the past few years, just out of desire, I've been playing with Ti 6al4v alot for my own projects.
Titanium is best treated like 304 stainless.
Slower surface feeds, good depth of cut.
These pulleys are 6al4v.

2000rpms and all turns at .0015" per revolution.
These parts were dropped off complete like this.
The live drill holes were done with a carbide circuit board drill at 2000rpms and .003" per rev feed.
I made 31 of these Ti pulleys, with 10 holes each (1/4" deep).
When I was done the drill was flawless, it looked like it was never run, perfect.

I ran out of Ti so I stuck a short bar of 6061T6 and got another 22 pieces.
Then ran a foot of Delrin, obviously increased the feeds/speeds.
The longevity of the tools is due to the proper speeds/feeds.

Like 304sst, Ti needs to stay cool to avoid work hardening.
Also never skate a tool, meaning being very light on the cut. Always bury the cutting edge. Breaking and ejecting the chip is good but don't be shy.
I also cut tap these pulleys with an OSG VP10 tap, amazing tap for Ti alloys.
I use cut taps for thru holes but express taps for blind holes.

If you're interested in anodizing titanium at home.

This is the alloy I have been cutting my axle shafts out of, Ti 6al4v, and it is tough to figure out for a newbie but I got it figured out.

Ok so I assume that with gibbs spf you can't do the image plotting. Is there another programs that can do the plotting for me and I'll just write in the program myself.

Aaron, I have the ability to convert from Vector files to 2D autocad drawings (or whatever that will export to ie dxf).

Image to Vector can be a pain, but if you need help and something like that will get you further I'd be happy to help.

Hey thanks man that would be awesome. Especially if it is in autocad dwg then I could import a lot easier.

Here's a question: how much room should I dedicate to a piece of equipment? How much space should I leave around it?

This may help, you want to be able to get all around the machine if possible to get to adjustments etc. Also have to consider the travel of the table.

Yeah I know...I think I asked that question out of desperation when I already knew the answer. Looks like I'm going to have to put tables on wheels...
