| tubing size for body work?
what size brake line do you prefer for bumpers, sliders and cages to work with? i have a hobart wire feed welder i was planning on using or maybe do some brazing. i was at ace hardware last night and they didnt have any small enough tubing so i think ill just go to napa and get some steel brake line.

3/16" brake line or solid rod. I typically use solid rod for all the stuff that is going to take a beating as well as the main tube work on my cages and then fill it in with tubing for the braces and stuff to keep the weight down.

i've been using 1/4" brakeline for rock sliders on my clod bodied build and shock hoops....i found they are a bit better at handling bumps over 3/16".........bob .... |

check this stuff out... lil more expensive but no coating to sand off and its a lil thicker than brakeline... not to mention its an alloy steel instead of a mix of things like brakeline is...also got a 25% discount on my first order https://www1.mscdirect.com/eCommerce...rchandizedOk=Y Last edited by brandonwalsh420; 03-22-2012 at 08:57 PM. |

| Re: tubing size for body work? This stuff is far better than the brake line Im use to. Powder coating it shouldnt be a problem. I ordered 3, 6 foot sections of 3/16" and two 6' sections of 1/4". They sent me 5, 7' sections so thats like 5' of tubing for free. |
