| How to fuse servo wire insulation together?
Does anyone know of a way to fuse/melt servo wires together? I'd like to replace my servo wires with all black wires (and futaba connectors to enforce polarity) but I'm not able to find bulk all-black servo wire with all three leads black. I can find some all-black extenders, but I wanted to see if I could make my own by buying bulk black servo wire and fusing three of them together into a servo/ribbon cable. Or is that more of a glue procedure instead of heat/fuse? |

depending on the length of the leads, i'd just cover them. for short wires, heat shrink works well, for longer, braided wire sleeving with heat shrink covering the ends of the sleeving works best.

You need something like a "black 3 conductor component cable/wire" cable or wire depending on the manufacturer.

just stick a long section of small black wire in a vice on one end and a drill on the other. Turn on the drill and keep twisting until it is good and tight, not broken. Now you have a nicely wound piece of twisted wire. Cut and splice at your will. For the most part a tightly wound piece will not unravel. Wes |

Magnum sharpie is much easier. that's how I make all my servo leads black. Either that or you can rit dye the wire. Unsolder it from the board, dunk in rit dye until black, resolder to board

Ahh.. I think I found what I was looking for: 3 Conductor Black Flat Wire, 5 foot length Not sure about the gauge for this, so I call/email to find out. I probably don't have the patience to use the sharpie, but I may try the rit dye on my existing bulk servo wire. Any problems with the dye bleeding out? | ||

What about heat shrinking them together?
