Default share your technique for brazing nuts for panel mounting on tubers.

this is by far my least favorite part of building steel chassis, its time consuming and the small nuts are a pain in the ass. in the past ive used a third hand set up with the nuts on the end of a long threaded rod and tried like hell not to braze the threaded rod into the whole mess. it takes a long time to jig up, its a pain in the ass to braze, there's got to be a better way.

so if you've got a better way, better tools or a totally different idea all together, lets hear it. i'm dreading this part of building Hendertucky.

I make small steel tabs, drill and tap them. Much easier to braze on than nuts.

Here you can see some of the tabs.

How about if you ran a piece of safety wire through the nut and tied it off against the tubing to hold the nut in place?

the best way i found is to mark where you want the nut ,apply a small amount of soder where your marks are then hold the nut on the soder till it melts together, once you have soder on all your marks putting the nuts goes really fast.

i'm not sure how well soldering would work considering i'm using 3/16" solid rod. might take a long time to heat the rod enough to attach the nuts. i'll give it a shot though.

thanks guys!
