I need to make table clamps before I do anything serious. It's a PITA having one hand on the RT crank, one hand on the down feed crank, and another on the cross feed crank.

Also, its one thing to make a single wheel, and an entirely different thing to remember what exactly you did so that you can make three more.

I know...its a habit I need to get into. Stopping to write stuff down cramps my style.

I'm gonna buy some gold spray paint for it on the way home tonight.

Damn. Nice work. If that's all just practice...can't wait to see some full on ready to go stuff.

Had some free time to try again. This one is an actual factual 1.9 beadlock.

Yeah it may bore some but I like to watch machining videos. I've done got Kieth Fenner and Mr Pete on YouTube caught up so now looking for more to watch.

A few off and on hours. Certainly long enough to make me not want to make a full set for anyone but myself. Even then, I don't know that I like myself enough to commit to it.

Got something in the mail today to solve my hex problems and generally make wheel making easier.

After some measurements I got to makin' stuff.

A few mistakes here and there...the design is so-so. I need to work on recreating the "kick it up a notch" design in a 1.9.

Thought I'd share my latest homebrew machining tool. I hate all the sharp edges on my stuff. Filing or sanding takes the pointy away, but its uneven at best. I started looking at chamfering machines, but they're out of my budget.

So I present to you, the $.05 chamfering jig.

1.5x1.5 angle with a little bend on one edge, clamped in the vice and using a .25" endmill to do the cutting. Its a little flexy, but I'm only taking a wee bit off so you don't need much pressure. A liberal application of Moo-Slick keeps the parts sliding with ease.

The results...

Also my new work light. Made from cheap ebay led light strips stuck to a 1/4" sheet of abs. A tight fit around the quill keeps it in place.

I'm not super crazy about the zenon white color...I may redo it with bright white instead.

I think we need the disclaimer "don't try this at home kids!" whatever works for you but I personally don't have the balls to risk my fingers doing that that said it did a pretty nice chamfering job and those wheels were slick! Proof that with the right bit of time and skill you CAN do quite a lot its just a lot faster on a CNC in a production environment.

To get rid of the burrs scrape them perpendicular with the back of an x-acto knife blade. That works pretty good on plastic burrs

Its not nearly as dangerous as it looks. It does do a pretty nice job, but after a while it gets uncomfortable to use, and you can't move as efficiently or as quickly as I had hoped. I'm going to have to come up with something else.

Which leds did you use - I could use a couple setups like this.
