Just the cheap 5050 led strips from ebay. I noticed the other day that the current setup is starting to die...they've lost their zenon color and are fading into a dim, warm white color. I'll be replacing them shortly with some bright white, and most likely scale it down some while I'm at it.

Its better than nothing, but just barely. The next iteration will use a dremel tool.

Have you thought of using a tumbler with abrasive media? For small parts like the one you showed, it might be easier to toss a bunch in a tumbler to knock the corners down.

Yep. I ordered a tumbler and some media a couple days ago. Id still like to come up with ai easy way to put a nice finished edge on stuff though.

Been doing some tool shopping.

New 4" vice. Worlds better than my old one.

Monster Jaws aluminum jaws.

Corner rounding end mills.

Got a wiggler to try out.

Tumbler showed up, but the media is still MIA.

Now you are getting addicted to tooling up

I just picked up a set of indexed carbide insert bits for the mini lathe. I had only tried the carbide tipped tools, and hated them because of the zero rake. For less than $5 an insert with three points I couldn't turn it down! (no pun intended)

I'm not an addict, I'm an enthusiast.

Most of this stuff is things that I've been needing but hadn't had the money for. The only thing I got for funsies is the wiggler.

This should help! It isn't the worlds most precise device but it works a treat for prototyping stuff.

I know how it goes... January is an expensive month for me oh well unless its a consumable item once you got it your set

That vise is a great bang for your buck, that middle hole on the movable jaw allows you to lock the jaws firmly with a wedge action.
Like to know what you think of the corner radius set.

Wiggler FTW ! They are about as 'old school' as it gets, yet they still work perfectly.

I'm not seeing the connection between the piece of angle that your were chamfering and the finished part. Could you elaborate for those of us that are a bit on the 'slow' side?

Nice. It's always satisfying to get some of the tools you have wanted/needed for awhile but were holding off from buying.

Behind that piece of angle is either an endmill or deburring bit. The cutting surface of either protrudes (very slightly) into the angle, so that the tool makes contact with the very edge of the part and nips the sharp edge off.

I got that much from the pic! I didn't see the connection between the piece in the vise and the finished parts. I thought maybe you used the big piece of angel as an extrusion of sorts, then cut out the individual posts. I just can't see how the posts could come from that shape. I addition to being slow, I'm not a great communicator !

You run the (nearly) completed and shaped part across the thing in the vice and it takes the sharp edges off. Its just used as a finishing tool.

I think I get it now. I guess I've been using one of these things for too long to realize there could be better ways of deburring.

I used to use Shaviv debuting tools everyday and it got old real quick. The corner endmill set is the shiznit for making nice clean burr free edges, you can use them for multiple different purposes. Once you get some more scratch built up take a look at harveytool they make some great stuff for are sizing needs. I use a lot of their end mills and engraving bits. They cut brought aluminum and acetal like its warm butter.

--Dan

Side note where did you pickup the tumbler and what brand is it?

those are nice. On the machines at work we tend to use a ball mill or a chamfering tool to do the trick I still love my 3-bladed de-burring knife and some tiny files. They kick butt
