I use a small testors paint brush to apply a small amount to each serfice.
P.S better thick then thin.

ok with safety silv i used to glob it on some what heavy, but then i got silver solder run where the flux melted "turn to liquid" ran....now i keep my flux kinda moist in the jar and just use enough to coat the tube where i WANT silver solder to go for the joint....

any over coat away from the joint i wipe away with my finger....but i do put it into the center of the tube as well....then just as i see it turn to clear liquid i add the silver solder to joint and pull it away as i see it start to melt and watch it wick into the joint as i keep heat there for bout another few seconds and done.........bob

Get rid of silver solder and get some 60/40 flux core. PAO.

Stay with that 60/40 and pow watch your cage and tube work fall apart.

ya Sorry guys thats my bad I am doing cage work and as Sidehiller mentioned the cage has some tricky compound bends with a fair good number of small intricate cross braces. i found that some joints turned out better than other and figuerd that maybe i was using to much or not enough fluxx or maybe it was to dry/or to wet ... Even though i have a fair bit of mechanical/weld/fab experiance Im pretty new to the whole cage building and silver soldering (first one is in progress),

thanks for all the replies

Oh and sidehiller... im way to solw to post up a build thread...RCC would eat me alive for the super solw up dates... (3 and a half months just on the cage work and its not even finished)

my TT build took me a year and i'm not done yet ....post up the thread dude ....if you have welding and such in your background, silver solder is just like full size brazin with oxy/act set up with brass rod with flux coating or the plain rod you dip in flux .........bob
