Default Taig - Purchase Help

I'm about to pull the trigger on a Taig mill in the near future. I understand the basics and such, but have a more pointed question and since I know many of you have Taigs, thought this might be a good place to ask.

I'm looking to buy the CNC Ready one, as I have connections to get motors/controllers cheap. Can I use the CNC Ready one manually until I am able to acquire the needed parts? Of it is locked into me having to have the motors/controllers to even run it.

Also if it is locked from manual, could I buy the manual and convert it to CNC use later for relatively cheap?

I mean the manual with the bigger motor is $998 + ship. The CNC ready is $1049 + ship and includes the upgraded motor. Seems like for ~$50 if I can use in manual until parts arrive I'd be winning.

are you looking at this one? if so it looks like the motors are in place of the handles so you would have to remove the motors and put handles on it in order to go manual...

2018CR-ER 2018 converted to CNC ready with Nema 23 motor mounts, adjustable bronze leadscrew nuts, and upgraded 1/4 horse power motor . Does not include stepper motors or control system.

Yup that is the one, but its just the motor mounts, not the motors.

Was wondering if you could still use hand cranks with the mounts attached.

the mounts dont come attached, and the cnc-ready version doesnt come with the handwheels.. I cant see any reason why you couldnt order them from taig as well. I'd suggest clarifying with taig upon ordering though, I mounted the steppers immediately after unboxing.

In addition, the 2019 has an extra few inches of x-travel, and isnt much more expensive. Also, take a look at their specials page, the CR packages include shipping & the upgraded motor..

You can put handcranks on the cnc version, I have a set of them here actually. Never used em, just got it running with cnc right away.
