| Work mats...what are you using?
As I pour through countless threads in an effort to learn more about modern RC I'm beginning to also set up tools for my new build. While looking at everyones workshop photos I see some great looking, practical work mats. Show me the way on this most boring-ist of topics. What and where did you purchase yours?

Cow Rc. I have a large and a small. The small holds my hardware I take off and my parts. I cut the hardware holders out I my large mat and love it. Cleans easily with a good cleaner and really makes pictures pop. I had the large green one for many years, it's now in the corner, love my cow mat. Worth the $$ |

I use the Upgrade pit mat: TowerHobbies.com | UPGUPG1800 UPG1800 UpGrade R/C Heavy Duty Team Pit Mat 19.75"x29.5" Got it in a trade - previous to that I used a $1.99 Walmart bath towel. Did what I needed it to do. I would have never spent $60 on a pit mat if it wasn't for that trade. It's the yellow and black one - and I wouldn't recommend it. It stains WAY too easy, and even after scrubbing with Simple Green it looks like hell. Other than that I like it. If you get one - get the black or dark blue to hide the stains. |

I found 24" x 24" rubber backed capet squares @ the dollar store for well of course 1 buck each. I got the wild pattern so the screws & parts stand out. |

I use this mat and it crazy thick and heavy. I am very glad I bought it. The mat stays put and makes working on stuff so much nicer. I would say a great Xmas gift IMO. UpGrade R/C Heavy Duty Team Pit Mat |

I use a roll of brown paper that I believe the wife bought for masking stuff off when she painted. I can make my mat as wide as I want, and with a few tabs of masking tape I can make it three deep and cover the whole counter top in the workshop. |

I went to Home Depot and got a half sheet of 1/4" sub flooring, then stopped at A.C. Moore and they have magnetic place mats. I cut the plywood down to 3'X2' and glued the place mats on top. I then took some weather stripping from Home Depot ran that around the outside to keep parts in. Quick and easy and cost a lot less than buying one.
