CNC machines for a budget?

What's a good company to look up some cnc machines for a small work shop area, budget around $2,000

That will be a challenge.
Not impossible but not easy for sure.
You might want to look for something used or one of the kits that is DIY.
What are you looking to do with it?

2K for a CNC? Maybe in a CNC router, but not a CNC Mill or Lathe. Even used they are hard to see in that price range.

Taig 2019CR is about 1200, add steppers, drives and power supply from keling inc, and you're at about $1700. PC from goodwill (make sure it has a parallel port) and some cables and you're under.

$2000.00 will be tough to get with any capacity.
