Mcmaster-Carr carries some slightly thicker walled tubing in that size. The coating on the brake lines comes off very easy w/ a bit of 120 grit sand paper. I know it's a PIA to clean it off but at least it's an option.

i've had the same issue. most auto parts stores around me only carry the green coated brakeline. but there is a napa store that has the standard galvanized line. i have to drive awhile to get there but they still carry it.

Car quest has the galvanized and ace hardware has the muriatic acid, 5 minutes with the acid , rinse and you have very clean 3/16 mild steel to work with

i've only done small repairs so far with brazing brake lines so i'm a newbie but i'm going to start in on a cage soon. is cleaning the line with muriatic acid a must? sounds easy enough but with the kids running around the house reducing the amount of flammable or caustic materials is a best practice!

Yes only outside, try not to inhale the fume, found that I can pour tithe acid directly on the brake line and in a few seconds the galvanizing is gone, rinse and wash the puddle of acid away, cleans your concrete also

I buy mine from a local steel warehouse. You should look to see if you have something close, it will most likely be much cheaper than buying from an autoparts store. Here is where buy mine. Macksteel - Metal Service Center and Equipment Manufacturer for your Farm and Ranch.

Just picked up a bunch of green coated stuff, at auto parts store. I chuck it up in a cordless drill to spin it. With some fine grit sand paper, makes short work of the green stuff. Just an option.

I use the .020 wall SS on all my builds. Nice and light and I have not seen any structural issues

And second or third what Devlina and Chud said MSC is great for service, pricing and shipping. Corey use your business and you might get a little better pricing.
