I was checking out McMaster Carr for some 3/16 & 1/4 steel tubing & rod for building a chassis & there is like 15 different kinds of steel so what are u guys using to do this?

the only brake line ive found so far is rolled up, i need straight but i will do some more searching around town

Most parts stores have straight pieces in various lengths.

Here you go! 89955K11 Put that in the search and it will pull it up. $21 for 8' of tube with .035" wall thickness. |

Back to your original question, you would want a low carbon steel so that you can bend, cut, weld or braze it with ease.
