| proper way to change shock oil?
I'm in the middle of redoing my 4 link on my Redcat Supper and I went to my LHS got some new lighter oil so the shocks would rebound a bit quicker. The salesman told me how to replace the oil (get all the air out) but I can't remember how he told me to do it. Any and all suggestions would really help out this newbie. thanks in advance |

Dunno if I'm giving wrong info but I slowly put oil in, then pump the shaft till all air bubbles are gone then add a little more oil till they're full.

Tilt the shock body slightly and full it up with oil slowly, then SLOWLY push the shaft up until it is just below the surface of the oil and SLOWLY (dont want to spray yourself in the face with this stuff lmao) pull it back down a few times. Then just start screwing the cap back on about 2-3 threads and then push the shaft all the way up, then finish screwing the cap on (more than likely some oil will come out of the cap when you push the shaft in). This is how i do it, skip to 2:20 Tech Tips - Factory Team V2 Shock Build - YouTube I know he has bleeder holes, but the same thing can be done with out them, just don't tighten the cap fully at the start, tighten the cap as he tightens the bleeders. The above is for race buggies\cars, but i think crawlers don't worry ENOUGH about there shocks |
