Default Sine Bar

Things are pretty busy here at work, and I didn't really have the time to wait for this to be ordered and delivered. A quick check through the cabinet this morning, and I found a lonely piece of scrap, so I decided to make my own. It's a 4" Sine Bar. I figured with all of the home machinists we have here, someone might find it useful.

A quick check and it looks like we are good to go. Time to get back to work:

I like when someone can be able to make something VS buying and waiting. Ive seen variations of that with 2 rollers and a strip of steel. At the end of the day no matter how simple or complex it becomes, a sine bar is really handy to have for precision angle setups.

Good work Juan

Thanks Calvin...I plan to make a version like that for my mill at home. Then I can use my smaller machinist vise with it. I've seen them for under $50, but like you said, I like making things myself when I can.

Sweet. I've been looking into these myself. I think I'll wait until I get a bigger and better vice though, the bed is only 3" and its a PITA to work off of...

My vise at home isn't very big either, and I have a smaller machinists vise that I use on my bench all the time. I decided to make a quick and dirty sine bar for it, so I can use it on my mill.

This one was a bit simpler to make but still effective. I would have liked to use steel but I had this handy. A bit thick, but it should do. The rollers are hard anodized 7075...should be ok if treated well.
