Default Traxxas motor plate vs hex driver

I don't even know what to say about this. Pretty upset this tiny screw just took out a $6 driver.

I wanna know who put them in there this tight and if i can borrow his hex driver... Now i might have to grind the plate off or just put my slash back together and go buy a new system. I wanna put this system onto my scx10.

You could drill out the screw and then grab it with vise grips and unscrew it.
It's a somewhat dangerous move because you may not be able to grab enough to unscrew but I've done several times.

It looks like the hex driver is still in there...might be hard to drill it out.

You could try grabbing the broken piece of driver with diagonal cutters, and slowly wiggle it to get it out of the screw head. Then you could possible drill the screw out. WEAR SAFETY GLASSES if you do this though. When gripping it with the cutters, you could easily shatter the driver shaft and send it right into your eye.

Also, a sensorless setup like that doesn't crawl very well. You'd be fine if you just want speed though.

There is not enough meat on it to pull out. I just ground it flush and put it back into the slash, well after i ran to town to get a new driver and a new motor.

The scx im working on is more for driving out in the snow. It's not going to be a crawler. I have a second scx that i crawl and trail with.

Use a Strong magnet. I break a dynamite driver atleast once a month.
Use a Butane torch to help with the screw removal and get some MIP Thorpe drivers and quit worrying about breaking drivers.

I am using dynamite drivers and have yet to break mine! I have wrecked the driver that holds the hex shafts but I am learning to chuck them up in my cordless screw driver now. I like my cheapy dynamites so far. Once I pooch out the next driver holder (whatever it is called, ratchet part) I might look at better quality...hehehe. I bought the metric and standard sets so I had two drivers to mess with. One is long gone in the trash....second one is still okay with more due care and attention to usage...

Cut a slot in the screw with a thin cutoff wheel and use a flathead to get it out.

A good smack will shock the threads and hopefully help get it out.

That's what I do when I strip a head out or break a driver off.

A left hand drill shouldn't have a problem taking that out. I have a whole set of them for removing broken bolts, and screws.

Weld a nut onto it with a quick tac weld and turn. If it breaks off do it again.
