| Hand drill
I got tired of switching drill bits. When useing my pin vice. http://www.tooltron.com/images/swivel_pin_vise_400.jpgSo I decided to see what I could come up with. As it was a real pain with the other one. I looked at my dynamite allen drivers for inspiration. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/ima...s/DYN2904.jpeg What I came up with has the same princable. A solid aluminum handle. Replacable bit held in with a set screw. If you can make a suspension link you can make these. All I did was take 3/8" hex stock. Witch was in my scrap bucket and cut it into 1" long pieces. Center punched the ends for drilling. Drill one end for the same size as the bit I was going to use. The other got a 3/8" bit ran down to create a dimp. The dimple helps keep your finger on the end when drilling. After that I drilled a 3/32" hole for the 4-40 set srew to be threaded into. After tapping the hole, I got the stamps out and stamped the sizes ito the handle. All in all it was easy and is working great for me. |
